December 1, 200520 yr A basic question, if I may - took the OV10 from Portland Int'l over to Mt. Hood, north over Mt. St. Helens, then over Mt. Ranier and up to Tacoma, planning on landing at McChord AFB.It was a long flight, needless to say but wonderful until I tried cutting back the throttles. No response! The landing gear extended perfectly but I could not slow down by any other means. Not the best landing, needless to say.Question - can things get a bit "messed up" after a lengthy flight where the system fails to respond as expected?Or could I have done something unpleasant (and unexpected) via my keyboard to cause this?Other than that, the flight was breathtaking! (In more ways than one!)I'm not sure if I landed on my own or if I was just shot down.Cheers and thanks for the great fun!

No response!Just guessing, but might you have been using the autopilot's autothrottle function? This would then be conflicting with any manual attempts to reduce power.>The landing gear extended perfectly but I could not slow down>by any other means. Not the best landing, needless to say.>Question - can things get a bit "messed up" after a lengthy>flight where the system fails to respond as expected?Well, FlightGear is still being actively developed in many areas and several parts are certainly not yet functioning properly, so it is indeed possible, on the other hand you would have to provide some more detailed information and maybe even make some additional test flights, in order to see if that's really the problem. And then it might not be a bad idea to report any issues to the mailing list, where most of the developers can be reached.>Or could I have done something unpleasant (and unexpected) via>my keyboard to cause this?like I said, my first guess would have been an activated autothrottle?>Other than that, the flight was breathtaking! (In more ways>than one!)If you wouldn't mind it, I would recommend to give it another shot and start some debugging flights, possibly writing down what exactly you are doing and any weird/unexpected behaviour you experience. Also, I just noticed that the aircraft's status is considered to be "beta", so it may not necessarily be perfectly flyable yet.
December 2, 200520 yr Thank you for your reply! I certainly will work with this model a bit more to (hopefully) determine the cause.I am obviously still quite "green" with this simulator, testing various aircraft models, getting the hang of it, so to speak.I also like the "Pilatus PC7" but it runs out of fuel too soon to suit me and doesn't appear to allow more of an additional fuel load. So, it's trial and error, as it were. That "UFO" is useful for looking around because of its speed but, other than that, not much fun.The sailplane models are delightful, needing no fuel but then things go rather slowly. There's so much to read, to learn - one day at a time.I will post another follow-up here once I have tested that OV10 a bit more and I thank you for your help!Cheers!

December 2, 200520 yr I might have read the readme inclosed with the OV10 folder. It's quite flyable and fun, for me. Just have to learn how, that's all. This attached excerpt explains it well enough (from the readme)."Flying the OV-10Takeoff, no flaps, apply full throttle. Sound doesn't change as engine is already at about 100%. Rotate at 100 knots and climb at 130 knots. To land fly downwind at 150 knots clean, on base slow to 120 knots, extending gear and half flaps passing through 130 knots. On final extend full flaps and slow to 75 knots (for STOL landing) or 100 knots (if you want a long life)."It's getting used to the beast, I reckon!I've already forgotten which models shut down when they ran out of fuel; at that point, we just went down, as expected.
