Featured Replies

Have downloaded & installed 0.9.9 but the first time i try to run it i get AppName fgrun.exe Appver 0.0.0.0 ModName atioglxx.dll ModVer 6.13.10.2392 Offset 001dcd29 Am running Win XP pro on an AMD 1.4 G w / 512 memory and an All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500 DX card. The what i suppose first window comes up to chose the type of aircraft but is then stopped by the error msg. Was looling in the binWin32 subdirectory and ran fgfs.exe which gave me this msg Base package check failed ... Found version [none] at: FlightGearPlease upgrade to version: 0.9.9Hit a key to continue... and when i hit enter, the window closes. Have been able to run fgadmin.exe and install one 10 x 10 but that's it. Any ideas? i submitted one of these earlier but haven't seen it on the board, so here we are again... Have a nice day! :)

Have a nice>day! :)1) you need to ensure that your graphic card's latest drivers are proplery installed2) you need to ensure that other openGL software works without any problems3) if the fgrun related problem persists, you may want to try running FlightGear/fgfs directly, in that case you NEED to provide fgfs with the path to the base package, using either FG_ROOT or the aforementioned switch.4) if you keep seeing issues during startup you should create a startup log using --log-level=bulk and post the relevant information here or to the developer's mailing list.

Thanks for the swift reply. Can you give me a more detailed instruction on how to set what i think is some sort of environ. variable so that it stays put? The info you gave was almost enough but i still need to know if i should open the Start button and do a Run and then type in some sort of instruction... The program is installed under the usual c:programfilesflightgear... I have run the "update" wizard on my XP and it says that the driver that i have is the most recent. In the meantime i have registerd w / Radeon to see they can tell me if the above is really true or not. Have a great afternoon! :)

Can you give me a more>detailed instruction on how to set what i think is some sort>of environ. variable so that it stays put?depending on your OS you may either have to set the environment variable using a shell (opening command.com/cmd.exe) or by simply going to the control panel in order to set up FG_ROOT to point to the path where FlightGear's data folder is located.Win2k:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311843WinXP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...;310519&sd=techIf you are using Win9x/ME the easiest method would probably simply be to edit C:autoexec.bat and add something like:set FG_ROOT=C:YOURPATHTOFGDATA(this would require a complete reboot then)> The info you gave>was almost enough but i still need to know if i should open>the Start button and do a Run and then type in some sort of>instruction...>> The program is installed under the usual>c:programfilesflightgear... you should be able to temporarily set said environment variable by simply issuing the aforementioned 'set' command in a shell (i.e. executing "command.com"/"cmd.exe"). This however will only be valid for the lifetime of the corresponding session, thus if you close the window or restart the computer the environment variable will no longer be set and would need to be reconfigured.> I have run the "update" wizard on my XP and it says that the>driver that i have is the most recent.
