FG crashes after splash screen in v0.9.9 / 10

Featured Replies

Firstly, what a great "grown up" flight sim and what a great forum!I've been running FG on my system for around a month now - AMD sempron 1.7Ghz 512ram, XP pro SP2 and ATi rage 128 pro with latest openGL drivers, Logitech attack3 joystick and logitech profiler 4.60 software.I had v0.9.9 working perfectly on my machine, but around 2 weeks ago FG started to give error messages and return to the wizard after around 10 seconds of splash screen. This happens at the "loading scenery objects" stage. Occasionally, windows gives an "fgfs has encountered a problem - send error report" type message, but not always.I have un and re-installed 9.9 which does not help and i recently downloaded 9.10. this suffers the same problem! This is what the cmd window shows after the crash: -Error reading properties:Failed to openfileAt C:/Program Files/FlightGear/data/joysticks.xml(reported by SimGear XML parser)Error Reading Properties:Failed to open fileAt C:/Documents and Settings/ian clifford/Application Data/flightgear.org/autosave.xml(reported by SimGear XML parser)model author: unknowncreation date: 2002-01-01version: $Id: c172p.xml,v 1.16 2006-03-06 21:12:52 daveluff Exp $description: cessna c-172altitude=-1.12977sea level radius=2.08996e+007latitude=0.653236longitude=-2.13554Both the joysticks.xml and autosave.xml files do not appear to exist on my machine and i am now going bald from pulling my hair out!Any help v. much appreciated. Have i done something stupid?

>Firstly, what a great "grown up" flight sim and what a great>forum!Firstly, thanks for providing a pretty good bug report!Secondly: this forum itself is not officially supported by the FlightGear developers, the only reliable means of obtaining competent support (AND also thanking the developers for a great software) are the FlightGear mailing lists:http://www.flightgear.org/mail.html>I've been running FG on my system for around a month now - AMD>sempron 1.7Ghz 512ram, XP pro SP2 and ATi rage 128 pro with>latest openGL drivers, Logitech attack3 joystick and logitech>profiler 4.60 software.>I had v0.9.9 working perfectly on my machine, but around 2>weeks ago FG started to give error messages and return to the>wizard after around 10 seconds of splash screen. Likewise, does the problem occur with all aircraft/airports?You may also want to check out the following link for a short guide about how to provide additional information that may be useful:http://www.seedwiki.com/wiki/flight_gear/h...cfm?wpid=247004Additionally, it may be helpful to start FG with increased logging enabled:--log-level=bulkThis should show exactly WHERE FG stops. If you are using fgrun to launch FG, there should be a logging option somewhere under "advanced options/settings"
