FlightGear on Fedora 5 -openal problem

Featured Replies

Hi everybody I'm trying to install FG on Fedora 5 but after installing openal rpm FlightGear asks me again for openal! The message is:[root@clo FlightGear]# rpm -i openal-0.0.9-0.5.20060204cvs.fc5.i386.rpmpackage openal-0.0.9-0.5.20060204cvs.fc5 is already installed[root@clo FlightGear]# rpm -i FlightGear-0.9.9-0.FC.i386.rpmerror: Failed dependencies:openal >= 20050209 is needed by FlightGear-0.9.9-0.FC.i386[root@clo FlightGear]#So the openal version I've installed is recent enough and well installed but it seems like FlightGear doesn't recognize it!Any idea?

seems so, but it's hard to come up with a proper diagnosis of your specific problem without knowing more about your system, platform, OS, settings etc.http://www.seedwiki.com/wiki/flight_gear/h...you?wpid=247004Also, please note that this forum is generally not the recommended way to discuss such issues, rather the FlightGear mailing lists are a far more reliable way of discussing any FlightGear related problems:http://www.flightgear.org/mail.html

seems to me that you need the openal-devel package.Try downloading it from here: ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/fgfs/Fedor...-0.FC2.i386.rpmjust rpm -ivh openal-devel*.rpmmake sure you do that as root.you should be able to get FlightGear installed now.
