Why might Win 98se/FG 9.10 crash?

Featured Replies

Hi,Just installed FG on my old W98se system (AMD 1700, 256kRAm, GeForce MX420). Start FG and all seems well, get off the ground OK (tried P51 & Citation) and then complete black screen crash. Well, sometimes the controls stop working first... then it crashes! Only way out is to switch off power to PC and then wait while Scandisk does its thing on startup again: tedious. Any likely or possible tweaks would be helpful.ThanksAndy

Then, you will want to ensure that you are using the latest drivers for your hardware. If FlightGear is really the only application that's causing these problems, you will want to verify whether the crash is in any way related to the startup or runtime settings you are using (that is, by playing around with the various settings-i.e. trying different combinations of aircraft and airports/runways and weather).Furthermore, useful information may be obtained by running FlightGear with an increased log level using --log-level=bulk, to have it provide runtime log information. Also, given that you seem to have to restart the whole OS after such a crash, you'll probably want to redirect FlightGear's output to a file using something like:fgfs --log-level=bulk >> C:fgfs.logFeel free to come back with a corresponding log file, or preferably post directly to the FlightGear Developer's mailing list:http://www.flightgear.org/mail.html
