Determining your FlightGear version

Featured Replies

I installed FlightGear under Debian Linux using apt-get. It's running fairly smoothly. I just have a couple questions to improve my setup:(1) How can I tell what version of FlightGear I have installed?(2) I may purchase a control yolk and rudder pedals. Does FlightGear tend to be compatable with all control yolks and pedals (this would be under Linux too)?

I just have a couple questions to>improve my setup:>>(1) How can I tell what version of FlightGear I have>installed?Unfortunately, you cannot do this currently-at least not reliably, this is something that has previously been discussed and is actually rather simple to address, in fact I I did even provide a small patch a couple of weeks ago that could be easily used to include such information, too. However, if you truly have no idea what version of FlightGear you are running, you MAY be lucky checking out $FG_ROOT/version - which is actually only the version of the BASE PACKAGE you are using.>(2) I may purchase a control yolk and rudder pedals. Does>FlightGear tend to be compatable with all control yolks and>pedals (this would be under Linux too)? No, your best bet would probably be CH PRODUCTS based hardware, however I remember seeing a corresponding section somewhere in the wiki, too.On the other hand, you are probably better advised to check back with other users, using the FlightGear mailing lists: http://www.flightgear.org/mail.htmlThat way, you should be able to get an impression about what sort of hardware works without problems currently, and which doesn't.
