Painfully Low Framerate

Featured Replies

I'm experiencing an extremely low framerate in flightgear for some reason while playing. Even after turning all of the settings I could find off or as low as possible, game still runs around 1-2fps. My system specs are:OS: Windows XP SP2Memory: 640MBProcessor: 1.7GHz CeleronVideo Card: GeForceFX 5200 w/ 256MB video memory, the latest drivers, and OpenGL 2.0 support. These specs seem to at least meet everything specified in the system requirements for getting a reasonable framerate of 60fps, so I'm confused. To be more specific with my problem, I sometimes do get a decent framerate while sitting on the runway with an aircraft, but as soon as I speed up at all, the framerate dramatically drops until the game is no longer playable. Most other 3d games and programs run at a rate that is at least playable on my computer. Does anyone have any advice?

That sounds like an OpenGL problem, but since you have all the drivers installed...Try pasting all the settings here from the command line. I can try to look through them and see what might be casuing it.-----------On a completely unrelated note, does anyone object to me bumping these semi-old topics? I just want to see if I can help, since no one else has said anything.

I had this problem also. Turned out I had to change to 24 or 32 bpp. In addition to the low frame rate, the display had a cyan tint to it. My video card doesn't like 16bpp.Brian

I fixed mine by just using windowed mode at 1024x768, my computer also meets minimum specs, and it runs just fine.
