Help with multiple joystic config

Featured Replies

Hoping someone will have the magic clue I have missed.I have set up a new system, suse 10.1 on a p4 3.4g., PCI-E 256meg nivida graphics. fgfs runs quite fine. although some issues to compile that I did not have with suse9.At the moment working under KDE but later probably fvwm.I have 2 3 axis joystics, identical, (cheap), both are recognised as js0 and 1 respectivly and function normally in JS demo. Both return the same id of "USB Game Device".The second device is just for some extra switches. The fgjs config program works and creates 2 suitable config files to all of the desired inputs. (js0.xml and js1.xml) I copy these across, to the Input/joysticks dir. The system finds the file /Input/joysticks/Default/joystick.xmlI can edit this file to match my hardware and see the results as expected. If I plug in the second stick, both operate the same funtions side by side. From reading the faqs, man pagees, searching forums ect, I expect I just need to add these two files from fgjs, pathed accordingly, with respect to the /data/Joysticks.xml file, into this file and Flight gear should load them.I expected they were listed as elements after js-named. But what goes in "Namespace URI", "Prefix", and "local Name"? (these names might be KDE xml edit specific). I have been using the kde xml editor with out sucess. Normally the file gets fouled up after a few tries and simgear shows an error message on startup of fgfs.Aside from when I cause that error, there are no other errors reported by fgfs.Obviously i am putting the wrong thing in the wrong place. When up, fgfs shows only /js in the files/browse internal properties/input/joystick menu.So the question is what should the /Data/Joysticks.xml file look like to get the system to load js0.xml and js1.xml from the Input/Joysticks/ directory. The help note in the file seems self explanatory, but still no sucess.Or am I trying to do the wrong thing here and is the a different way it can be done.regards Harry

problem solved..edit by hand the old fashioned way.
