July 31, 200619 yr Hi,I am trying to install FlightGear on a Linux machine but it fails because of a module dependency. Info:OS: X/OS, version 2.6.9-34.0.2.EL.XOS.1FG version: 0.9.10-0.FX/OS is a distribution based on RedHat, that's why I downloaded the pre-built Fedora Core package. Error: unlocatable package 'openal'It also required package 'openal.so.0' but I managed to install this one: rpm -q openal -> openal-0.0.8-1.2.el4.rfHowever, it still claims that package 'openal'is missing. Do I miss something hear? Thanks, Theo M.

That is, does your OpenAL installation work at all? Have you considered installing from source?
October 16, 200619 yr I am also unable to install FlightGear because of this dependency.I have installed libopenal.so.0, and it recognizes that because it doesn't ask for it. I have tried downloading the newest openal rpm off their site, but when I run it, it says a newer version is already installed.Trying to install the FlightGear rpm gives an output of: error: Failed dependencies: openal >= 20050209 is needed by FlightGear-0.9.10-0.FC.i386I am running Fedora 4 on a HP ZD7000 series laptop. I have got the sound to work so I don't believe it has anything to do with it. But I cannot find OpenAl to check to see if it works, as mentioned.
October 16, 200619 yr Your openal might just be in a different place than the package-maker thought it sould be. That's one of the drawbacks of installing from RPM's.
