Flightgear DVD aircraft install

Featured Replies

Installed FG and Love it...after nearly frying my pc to config my video card But... there are several other aircraft that do not "load" in the FlightGear wizard selection panel.. among them an A-4, ornithopter, and hang glider. They ARE located in a separate folder in the aircraft folder titled "UIUC". HOW do I get those aircraft loaded to the wizard's screen so I can select that craft for my flight???

I'll try to explain this, sorry if it's not very clear, I'm probably not the best person to answer this question. I believe that when FG scans for Aircraft, it looks through all of the folders in the Aircraft folder for a configuration file for the aircraft. For the Cessna 172p, this file is data/Aircraft/c172p/c172p.xml. You must organize all of your aircraft this way. So, for the A-4 Skyhawk for example, you would create a directory in the aircraft folder (you can call it anything you want, but you'd probably want to call it something along the lines of A4 for organization) and place all the data for the aircraft in that folder. Unfortunately, you will have to edit all the file paths in the aircraft conifguration files (a real pain sometimes). And if any of this info is wrong, somebody please correct me.Of course, and easier way to get these aircraft to work would be to go to http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/aircraft/ and just download the aircraft that you want.Hope this helps!

Gee I think you've helped quite a bit !! I'm not saavy enough to load all that info, but I had thought about simply downloading the ac and seeing if they would just load like the "originals" I'll try that and get back here to let everyone know if that's the viable option...thanx again !!!
