August 22, 200619 yr After a few days messing around with FlightGear documentation I could not find the answer to this question. I'm using version 0.9.10 in WinXP. The online manual says I must add '--carrier=Nimitz' and '--aircraft=seahawk' to the command line; but where is the command line?Starting FG I have the first window where I can choose the location and then one second window with a few parameters where I can see the comand line content; how can I add those parameters to that line? What am I doing wrong?Tx in advance for any help.
August 22, 200619 yr I don't believe you can start on the carrier using FGRun. You select the Seahawk of course, but I don't think you can edit the command line with FGRun. Here's 1 way to start on the Nimitz:1. Start up a text editor and add this line to a blank text file: --carrier=Nimitz2. Save this file in Flightgeardata and call it system.fgfsrc (fgfsrc being the extention).3. Start up the flightgear launcher and select the Seahawk (or any other aircraft capable of operating from a carrier).4. Don't select an airport. 5. Run flightgear. That might be the easiest way to do this.
August 22, 200619 yr Thanks for your help,I'm trying to follow your sugestion but now I'm in a different kind of trouble. When I start FG the last airport selected is always present. Is it possible to deselect it?
August 23, 200619 yr If you click refresh, I think there won't be an airport selected after it's done searching for airports.
August 24, 200619 yr Even after a clean installation and refresh there is always an airport selected. I don't know what else can I do.
August 25, 200619 yr Maybe you could try this then:1.Start the Flightgear wizard and select all the options you would normally run flightgear with.2. Copy the text from the command line on the last screen of the Flightgear wizard into the system.fgfsrc file that you made.3. Replace the airport= line with carrier=Nimitz. Also, you won't need the runway line. And make sure you are using a carrier-capable aircraft (like the Seahawk).4. Create a batch file in Flightgear/data. Type the path to fgfs.exe in the batch file and save it as whatever you want. For example, the batch file I use just contains the following line: D:FlightGear9.10binwin32fgfs.exe5. Run the batch file. Flightgear should start up, and when it's done loading you should be on the Nimitz.
August 25, 200619 yr Thanks again for your help. This time I'll give you some more information so that you can see what I'm doing. In c:FlightGeardata I did create two files- one batch file with only one line:C:FlightGearbinwin32fgfs.exe- and file 'system.fgfsrc' with the following lines: --fg-root=C:FlightGeardata --fg-scenery=C:FlightGeardataScenery;C:FlightGearscenery --carrier=Nimitz --aircraft=seahawk --control=joystick --disable-random-objects --enable-auto-coordination --disable-specular-highlight --disable-ai-models --geometry=1024x768 --timeofday=noonThen I changed de block in 'preferences.xml'. Now it looks like this: truenimitz_demoaircraft_demoThe batch file really starts FG but still without Nimitz. The airplane is located anywhere in land and in DOS window i get the message:
September 1, 200619 yr fgrun now supports carrier and scenarii :ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/...32-20060827.zip
September 21, 200619 yr I have installed the above mentioned FGRUN.How does that work? When I fill in: NIMITZ, I do not start on the carrier. When I click on: NIMITZ-Demo FlightGear does not start and I see in the fgrun box a message: unknown ai option Nimitz-demo,and the program hangs. So I had to make a fresh reinstall of Flightgear.Who can help?
September 22, 200619 yr If you look back in this thread I think I explained a way to get FG to start on the Nimitz.
