PLANNING A TRIP

Featured Replies

HEY GUYS UH... I'M PLANNING A TRIP FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO HAWAII AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY COULD HELP ME WITH THIS. FIRST I GOTTA GET THE SCENERY FOR HAWAII. SOMETHING GOES WRONG WHEN I TRY TO DOWNLOAD IT. IT SAYS IT DOESN'T KNOW WAT PROGRAM TO RUN IT UNDER. SO IF SOMEBODY COULD HELP ME OUT IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I WANNA TAKE-OFF EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AND I'M GUESSING I'LL ARRIVE THERE AT LIKE 1 IF I LEAVE AT 8 OR SOMETHIN. PLEASE HELP ME

First of all, there's no need to type in all caps, and I think it's a bit annoying. Anyway, when you download the scenery, save it to FlightGear/data/scenery. Then extract it to that same path (if you don't have anything that can etract .tgz archives then go to 7-zip.org and get 7-zip). Now (assuming you're using fgrun), when you come to the "select a location" screen, click refresh and you should be able to select and airport in Hawaii.

Sorry about the caps but i can't get to the part where i can extract it. it says that it doesn't know wat program to run it under and i can't find the zip thing i have it cuz i get aircraft its just somethins messed up with my computer or sumthin!!

Winzip, or whatever Windows ships with, can't deal with .tgz files. So you should go to www.7-zip.org, and download and install 7-zip. Then you can extract the scenery.
