September 20, 200619 yr I was wondering if there is a limit to the resolution that flightgear can run at with a single screen assuming the hardware can handle it. I am thinking in the direction of 3000x1024....
September 21, 200619 yr I have no idea, since my graphics card and monitor can only handle 1600x1200. But you could test and see if FG supports it. All you have to do is start FG with the parameter --geometry=3000x1024. If it doesn't support that resolution then it would probably either give you an error message or just run in 800x600.
September 22, 200619 yr You can only try that if you have all the hardware available that will run that resolution. If you dont, windows will clamp the size of the window to the size of the screen. I would like to find out BEFORE i get the hardware....

I would like>to find out BEFORE i get the hardware....I'm going out on a limb here, but I'd say it should work-if it doesn't, then it's probably not FlightGear but rather your OS/driver that doesn't work properly. FlightGear itself has been used in various different research and hobby settings and projects, some of which used high resolution beamers instead of conventional screens. Likewise, I have personally run an earlier version of FlightGear in extremely high resolution, under Linux/X11 though. Not sure whether this still works, but IF I remember correctly FlightGear doesn't really care, as it does all standard calculations with a default resolution (of 1024x768(?)) internally-so it really shouldn't matter all that much, what actual resolution you are using.Apart from that, this question is probably best asked directly-on the FlightGear developers mailing list. Also, if you do intend to get the corresponding hardware, I'd assume that you should be able to put FlightGear on a CD-R/USB memory stick and check out the hardware's capabilities before making any further decisions.
