Setting Weather Conditions As a default...

Featured Replies

Greetings to all...I have looked through the two manuals I found on line for FlightGear and was not able to find anything on default settings for weather settings... What I would like to do since I am a newbie... is set / edit whatever file is necessary to set the wind at 0 'zero' coming from the north so I can practice my 'chopper' flight mostly but also as for now just get the feel for even the basic airplanes without having to deal with windage for now!!Is there any place a person can do this as a default for ALL flight startups, not just save a basic setting for one airport and then have to go in and load that one each and every time?? I have saved one for this purpose but often this 'saved' file goes 'south' on me when loaded and it won't let me get the control panel back or just hangs!!! Sometimes I can get everything there but the darn thing just won't 'throttle up so I can get off the ground!!!! But during re-start, everything is O.K. save only I have to go in and re-set the weather conditions each time!!! Any ideas or suggestions to overcoming this issue would be much appreciated!!Thank you all for your help...Terry

The weather, like many other aspects of the simulation, are defined in the preferences.xml file.

Thank you for your response and help! I am sorry it took so long for me to get back to you, but Yahoo had flagged your email as 'junk' mail and moved it to a folder I check only once a week! :-mad I thank you for your information and will go give it a try and see if I can set it where it won't default to the high winds like it normally does!! Maybe then I can get my chopper off the ground and stay in the air for more than 2 or 3 seconds!!!! :-roll Thanks again!!Terry
