May 26, 200422 yr Just beginning to repaint acft. On my 2nd acft the lettering on the fuselage when viewed from an angle are blurred. Looking right at the fuselage frm either wing tip and the ltrs are perfect but as u pan fwd or aft they begin to blur. What causes this and how do u correct it?Tks for taking the time with a newbie painter.Joe
May 27, 200422 yr Are you sure, that you have deleted the mipmap-levels from the texture?greetsReiner
May 27, 200422 yr ReinerAppreciate ur response. I'm not sure I understand how to delete the mipmap leve(s). The repaint is pretty basic. I took the fuselage textures and converted them to 24 BIT BMP then opened them in PSP8. I added the lettering and saved as a merged texture - not up to speed yet on the layering function in PSP. Then saved the BMP textures as DXT3 and dumped them back into the acft texture folder. With all that said where did I go wrong? Appreciate any feedback. Joe
May 27, 200422 yr If you're using DXTBMP there is a menu item called 'Include MIPS' under 'Prefs', uncheck this and resave. All should be fine and dandy.CJ.
May 27, 200422 yr CJ, et alTks again...found it, changed it and that did the trick - sorta! It cleared up the blurred letters but now I seem to have a pink tone to my white fuselage at times and the acft itself appears to have more jagged edges than before. Is this a function of the removal of the mipmapping or something else?Appreciate the help. I've just begun repainting and really appreciate everything I don't know about this art. Joe
June 5, 200421 yr Hi Jo,To avoid jagged edges, convert your texture to 32 bits(targa) and use Antie-Alias on your painting tools.Regards,Cees
