June 6, 200421 yr I thought I'd get started by doing something easy, like changing the 2D interior views of my favorite repaint. Thought it would be easy.Wrong...Afer 2 hours, I figured out how to use the fill tool but it's all one color. The original uses some texturing and shadowing to give perspective to bends and contours in the vinyl and the view of the exterior don't have the reflective shine that the original did. Like a flat finish.I picked up the color from the re-paint but the 2d panel bitmaps don't look right.Would someone mind coaching me, step by step on how to go about doing this?? I have Paint Shop Pro 8 by the way but am so new that I can just barely start the program...ThanksBobL
June 11, 200421 yr I have not used any of these myself so cannot vouch for one over another, however, I would hope at least one of these would teach you what you need to know.http://www.gjsmith.net/tutorials.htmhttp://www.avsim.com/hangar/flight/tutorials/marks.htmlhttp://www.tony.smiths.btinternet.co.uk/ms...te_tutorial.htmhttp://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_tute1.htmhttp://www.freeflightdesign.com/tutorials.htmSincerest regards,Heather Sherman
June 12, 200421 yr HeatherGreetings from SC and thank you so much for responding. I looked through those tutorials and either I'm extraordinarily dense or they're about two steps too advanced for me. :)Here's what I'm trying to do and I want to learn this myself, I don't want someone doing it for me...I have the Dreamfleet C310. The first two images are a screen capture of the 2D panel and views. I have the re-paint in the third image. I want to re-paint the 2D views to match the airplane. For the main panel, everywhere you see a Navy Blue, I want a deep chocolate brown, (uh-h-h, speaking of chocolate...excuse me a minute, I'll be right back...:) ). Where the interior is white, I want a tan/light brown.I've read (well, partially anyway...) the manual that came with PSP 8.0 and it's not helping. And I don't have a clue where to begin...Could you tell me where/how to start???Thanks so much and here are the screenies...BobL
June 12, 200421 yr hello bob, sorry i couldn't respond to your post earlier because i did not understand what you were talking about :)now i do..i'm afraid you can't really match the colours easily with MS Paint..if you have a more complicated program that is in ur hands..what you can do is this.select the area using a polygon lasso tooland modify the RGR fill levels..
June 12, 200421 yr Hi LionelActually, I snapped the screen captures in Paint but I do have Paint Shop Pro 8.0. That's the manual I've been trying to read but it's not making a lot of sense to me...Polygon Lasso Tool?? What is that? I don't see anything called that in the PSP menus. PSP does have something called a magic wand but when I tried that, it eliminated the shadowing that creates the impression of depth. My view took on the appearance of something out of FS5 or 98..Modify the RGR fill levels? Again, how? I tried modifying the Hue table but Brown isn't listed. And I tried adjusting the Red, Green, Blue values but brown isn't there either. I suppose there is some mix of these values that might create brown but I don't have a clue what it might be.As you can see I'm really a newbie at this. I sure would appreciate a little 'step 1 do this'; 'step 2 do that' type of coaching. Thanks so much for the helpBobL
June 22, 200421 yr looks aroudn for the polygon lasso tool.. its somewhere near the lasso tool(I don't use PSP, but there should be such a thing)regarding the colour levels..that's what i would do..think of how to get the colour brown.. then try experimenting.
