Adding textures to FS2004 aircraft

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm pretty much a newbie to adding textures to planes. I have Photo Shop Pro (which I'm still trying to figure out) and I've downloaded textures for the new Eaglesoft Cessna IIS/P which are provided free.My problem is converting the downloaded files that are in *.psp format to *.bmp files that can be used by my addon program and FS2004. I can't figure out if the conversion is done in Photo Shop Pro or if I have to use another program to convert the files. I have an addon program that will add the textures to the aircraft but, here again, the files have to be *.bmp files. I've read a few paint tutorials and they focus on direct manipulation of the aircraft.cfg files which looks scary. Needless to say, I am extremely confused as to what has to be done and how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. [email protected]:-hmmm

Tom.... Go to avsim and search for ImageTool that came/comes in the SDK. Make your changes in the PSP format and save to a finished folder as PSP. Open the file in ImageTool and click on Format and click on DXT3 and save as a bmp. DO NOT ADD Mipmaps.Copy all the files from an existing folder to the new folder in the aircraft folder. Like..... texture.newSkin then copy all your new textures over to that folder overwrighting the old. Now.....Open the Aircraft.cfg and copy one of the entrys from that. This is from the realAir Scout repaint that I made.[fltsim.X] <--- this will be the next number in sequence.title=American Champion Scout EFFC <-- Be sure to alter the name here.sim=RASScoutmodel=panel=Blacksound=texture=EFFC <--- this is where the new texture name will go.
