PBY Catalina Anomally

Featured Replies

G'Day gents.I have been working on a repaint on Mike Stones PBY Catalina.Whenever I load up FS to view the progress of my work, I can't help but notice that the starboard main gear and nose wheel are invisible. Sometimes they are there for a short while but wind up disappearing.I believe the problem is associate with an XXXX_L file as when the lights are turned on, the 'invisible' wheels appear intermitently in time with the flash of the lights.I even downloaded someone elses repaint textures to see if perhaps I was missing a bitmap image in my file sets. No dice, problem still there.Has anyone else experienced this, and more importantly, know how to fix it?regards,Heather

create a night texture for the files :)

Actually, that was the first thing I thought of. The problem with that is that there aren't any textures for the landing gear to create a night texture with.I thought that it might be a part of another texture but all of the others already have night textures.ANyway, the problem has since been corrected. How, I'm not sure but when I am repainting, I will save a flight of the particular aircraft so that I may more quickly access it to periodically check my progress.Even though the starboard and nose wheels remained invisible, I continued with my work until finished. It was while taking screenshots for the upload package that I changed to a different saved Flight with another aircraft on the ground, then switched aircraft to the PBY. Lo and behold! There's the missing wheels!!Just to see if they would remain, I went ahead and taxied out, took off, and went through various maneuvers, including turning on and off the lights. No glitch, the wheels remained. All I can figure is that there must have been a glitch of some sort in the data of my saved flight.

Interesting, I gave up doing a repaint of the PBY because of the same problem you mention. I decided to wait and see if anyone else had the problem but have never seen it mentioned anywhere until your post. I'll have to drag out my repaint project and take another look at it trying your technique of loading another saved flight first..... Tony
