textures will not load

Featured Replies

I am currently repainting the Wings of Power B-17F and am experiencing the following problem with the texture I am experimenting with. The default file is a 24 bit bmp. it functions in the sim without any problems. I can load it into paint and save it as a 24 bit bmp and it still works well. However, when I attempt to alter the bmp in any way, specifically by repainting it, and attempt to save it as a 24 bit bmp file. it will not load when the aircraft is selected in FS9. The texture is rendered as blank. The fusilage (for which the specific texture is intended) is white. Before one addresses the issue,...yes, I saved the texture under its correct file name in its proper texture.* subdirectory! Now the vast majority of repaints for this aircraft are in 24 bit format and I am wondering just how the repainters acomplished this.I have tried DXT, DXT3, 32 bit extended and other formats for the texture but these are appear blurry in the sim. Besides this I do not want these formats at this time.Lets not go into a discussion of other formats (this can be dealt with in another thread)Thanks.Sam KimptonSWA2873

Hi Sam,Ok, lets see if I can help. The textures that come with the package are 24-bit images you say, what does DXTBMP say they are at top of the DXTBMP window?.I am fairly sure that the only program I know off that will save 24-bit images is photoshop, I dont think PSP can, so if you are using PSP and the images MUST be 24-bit, then that may be an issue.May I suggest you ask some of the guys over the www.sim-outhouse , there are a number of guys of there that are painting ** planes, and may be more qualified on these particular textures than I.Dan.
