July 14, 200520 yr Hey captains, I paint the PMDG planes quite often and I was just curious to how this Level-D B767 sim paint kit really works. So far I have painted the left side full. I'm not sure exactly how to get it to the left side FUSE without it looking messy. I know there is something in there about flattening all the layers? If anyone has the time to kind of give me a step by step process for this paint kit. Also, how do you get all the files into one..for the repaint manager...? I am curious. Thanks. Scott
July 14, 200520 yr Well, since I don't have the LDS model, I can only assist you on the first question. What I always do when painting - and that is, using Photoshop - is "duplicate current state", on the history palette:http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/5954/stage12tt.pngYou'll end up with another image, identical to your original PSD. Now you have to flatten it: Layer > Flatten Image, and discard hidden layers if there are any.Next step is to place the textures on the FS fuselage BMP's (using the POSKY 757 model here, posky757fuse1_t.bmp).Select one side first, let's say port, using the rectangular marquee tool (first one on the tools palette) and then CTRL-C to copy it. Open the fuselage BMP's, CTRL-V and place it on the correct position. To make life easier, multiply the layer so that you see where you have to place it exactly. When done set it back to normal.Multiply:http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/4264/stage22oa.pnghttp://img302.imageshack.us/img302/8651/stage48wd.pngNormal:http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/9718/stage34ln.png
July 17, 200520 yr well what you do is that you flatten all your additions to a single layer, duplicate that into the right template and flip horizontal, make sure you get rid of any text before you duplicate though, text must be readable on both sides
August 2, 200520 yr The Level-D can be a bit messy with regards to getting the fuse lined up with the textures. I suggest you first flatten all layers, then with CTRL-A, you select the entire thing and with the magic wand and while holding the ALT key, click on the light blue area of the file, so it selects the entire fuse. Then you copy and paste it to the texture and use the crosses as a reference when lining up. When you work with the middle section of the fuse though, you won't have the crosses as reference. In that case, you reduce the opacity of the layer you are lining up to 80% when lining up. When finished and when the results are spot on, you set the opacity back to 100% and continue with the aft section, where you will have the crosses again for reference.Hope this helps.
