August 3, 200619 yr Hi,Can anyone give me some direction. I recently have tried my hand at repainting. Opening & altering just text on a 737 paint named United freindship which shows up as Boeing 737-200 kittyhawk in the aircraft selection menu.I was able to open the fuselage-T BMP and alter it. However, I could not open the interior views and others, (with the pilots). I have tried at least six programs which can work with BMP's but still not able to open that file or several others. I could view it with DXT.BMP.Through one of the forums I thought I learned that I must use Paint Shop or another advanced editor to open certain type BMP files. After purchasing and installing Paint Shop Pro 10 I still am stuck. It opens textures with pastel wrong colors and still will not open the interior BMP where I desire to change the pilot.Do I need to tweak Paint shop? I've downloaded & installed the latest updates, My video card is a Radeon 9800 Pro. I'm lost help please! Thanks!Roger
August 3, 200619 yr Can you tell us HOW you are opening your textures to try and edit them? It sounds like yo are starting PSP and then opening the .bmp from the PSP menu. This would not work as you are still trying to get at a dxt3 encoded bitmap, which PSP won't be able to open. You say you have dxt.bmp, which is that first hurdle crossed. At the right of the dxt.bmp window there is a little button with an painters palette on it. You need to click that and tell it where your PSP.exe is located. Now DXT.bmp knows where your version of paintshop is you can open your texture in DXT.bmp.Once you have it there, click on the little icon 3rd from the left at the bottom of the DXT window (looks like a picture with an arrow pointing down). This will open PSP and load up the texture for editing.Do your stuff and then, when happy click 'save' in PSP (it will save to a temporary folder as norm.bmp.Go back to dxt.bmp and click on the next icon along (arrow pointing up), this will refresh the texture with your modifications. Now save the texture through DXT.bmp as an encoded bitmap and you're ready to go again.Sorry if I'm teaching my grandma to suck eggs! If not then I hope this helps.CheersMike
