Graphics Awards for Aircraft Texture Painting

Featured Replies

Hi Simmers,For far too long graphic texture painting has gone unrecognised as an independent Category for Awards and recognition. I have bounced the idea off several hundred people and a few discrete forums and the feedback has been an outstanding acknowledgement that Awards and Recognition for this category should go ahead. Therefore I have been a little arrogant and have decided that I, GJSmith.com would start off the Textures Award concept for this category by allocating awards in four different categories. No doubt the larger sites will indeed pick up on this concept if I can make it popular enough for them to also recognise the independence of the category. Please feel free to examine the principles and guidelines that I have set out on the following page:http://www.gjsmith.com/awards/awards.htmhttp://www.gjsmith.com/images/award-excellence-small.gifExcellence Award - This award will be presented to the Artist in relation to a specific texture he/she has developed for a particular aircraft and the overall aircraft graphics scheme and detail are of the highest possible standard. http://www.gjsmith.com/images/award-achievement-small.gifAchievement Award - This award will be presented to an artist for consistently achieving a level and standard that is of a high order for their texture development. This is the only award that is awarded to the Artist and is not specific to any one texture but is for a proven capability to maintain a high standard of graphics work. http://www.gjsmith.com/images/award-Except...etail-small.gifExceptional Detail Award - This award will be presented to the artist in relation to specific textures he/she has developed for a particular aircraft and the detail/ historical accuracy is of the highest possible standard. http://www.gjsmith.com/images/award--encouragement-small.gifEncouragement Award - This award will be presented to the artist in relation to a specific textures he/she has developed for a particular aircraft that is worthy of recognition and encouragement for their efforts. The Ground Rules for the awards are explained at:http://www.gjsmith.com/awards/awards.htmLarger more detailed images of each award are available for viewing on each relevant page if you wish to check them out while your on the Awards Page.I am trying hard to keep it as simple and unrestrictive as possible.Submissions and recommendations for appraisal of an aircraft or artist are very welcome. Thanks Marcelo,Yes I agree it is really about time to create an independant category for texture repaints - there are indeed many texture tinkerers who really do need recognition for their work, efforts and gifts for us all to enjoy. So in my humble way I will start the ball rolling.Regardshttp://www.gjsmith.com/images/gjsmithdotcom-2.gifGarry J.
