Heat shimmer effect in fs9

As you know some graphic cards now offer a few fansy shading functions, which are useful in simulating heat shimmer effect.I've tried to collect some heat shimmer effects for fs9. So far it seems that the existing fx files in fs9 are still based on particle system.Recently I've seen a combat flight game demo (lock on?) which clearly shows the engine exhaust effects including heat shimmer implemented with some shading functions(displacement shading? you name it). It looks good.Has anybody got a nice shimmer effect for fs9 so far?
