Hello!I have been learning the Russian language, have many Ukrainian and Russian friends, and have recently met (after long correspondence) a girl in Odessa, Ukraine (next I will go to Moscow to meet her parents). It was quite an experience, going to these Ukrainian airports which I have previously "visited" in FS9/ACOF (the whole trip was a great experience).I was wondering if there is any scenery for UKOO, Odessa. I have searched rather extensively, only finding some scenery for FS98.It was an almost surreal experience, exiting the TU134 at UKOO, having the odd sensation that I knew this place and had been there. Kiev was also very surreal in the same manner. Very haunting. Thanks!!

I've been searching and have not seen one any for the Ukrainian airports yet.

I am planning to fly with my AN24-RV to CIS range for a long time on VATSIM, but I am afraid of scenery problems. I checked some add-on sceneries (the RSBN package also) and I compared them to available airport charts. I had the feeling that original stuff (NDBs, VORs) and new stuff are mixed so much that I was completely lost. FS own World/Map view, FS Navigator and the charts show totally incompatible things with each other :(It would be good to assemble a list of recommended sceneries and related charts for VATSIM (IVAO) flyers at least for those areas where we could frequently meet ATC.Well, and do not forget FS2002-FS2004 differences. When you recommend something always define compatibility!Gabor

Hi Gabor,I haven't flown on VATSIM yet, but Vatsim Russia has a list of recommended sceneries and also Addons for missing Navaids :http://vatrus.net.ru/downloads/scenery.xhtmlNot sure if it helps thoughMichael

>Not sure if it helps thoughBelieve or not Michael, this was what I had been looking for :)Let's try and report problems (if any).> I haven't flown on VATSIM yet...By the way Michael, where are you flying if I am not too personal (IVAO, own server or off-line)?Gabor

Hi Gabor, not online yet, because I had a lot of problems with my Internet connection (very frequent disconnects). But this is solved now, so I'm going to start with VATSIM soon.Michael

Michael,There are problems with the VATSIM recommended sceneries. Allready the first (ILS addons) are for FS2002 only if I understand correctly. I have to carefully check the others as well.Let's meet on VATSIM. I am not flying frequently as I am busy with the AN24 Navigation document. But I will be ready soon.Gabor (SRS103)

Gabor,>> Let's meet on VATSIM. I am not flying frequently as I am busy with the AN24 Navigation document.OK ! I will start around mid September (after vacation).By the way, I follow the discussion in the An-24 thread at avsim.ru with a lot of interest. I'm also interested in the technical details of the whole thing ;)Michael

I still have problems with the sceneries over CIS (Old Soviet area). I only use one extra package for my FS2004:Site: http://tu154.avsim.ru/ files sectionFilename: http://tu154.avsim.ru/files/rsbnforfs9.zipSize: 47 KAdded: 01.03.2004Authors: Андрей ПрядкоNo more sceneries are used yet on that area. This only adds special VORs called RSBN navaids and the problem occures even if I delete this, so this is not the problem.Though I had run FSNavDBC.exe I have inconsistencies between the standard FS Map view and FS Navigator. There are several cases, for example in UKLI (Ivano-Frankivsk's, Ukraine). On FS Navigator I see:VOR 114,20 IVFVOR 116,95 IF (RSBN from the package above)For RWY 28:NDB 598,0 F NDB 290,0 IF On FS Map view:VOR 114,20 IVFVOR 116,95 IF (RSBN from the package above)For RWY 28:NDB 598,0 F NDB 290,0 IFFor RWY 10:NDB 598,0 V NDB 290,0 IV Based on the available charts (http://vatsim.spb.ru/new_maps/Ivano-Frankovsk.zip) FS Map view is more-or-less correct, though if I understand correctlly all four NDBs are in fact compass NDBs only with short range. That's why they coould have the same frequencies (?). In FS however The outer NDBs have large range as for HH NDBs and in FS Navigator only F and IF can be seen, but one could capture the other one easily by chance if that is closer!!!I checked with AFCAD utility and it is really set to HH type of NDB, which is most probably not correct (there are 3 navaids put on top of each other (outer marker, compass NDB and HH NDB). Also an other scenery file seems to contain NDB data (go over NDB IF or over VOR IVF with the mouse in FS Navigator). It is NV9EURE0.BGL and does not contain any airfields, but it seems it defines some navaids duplicated. It is not clear at all, why the NDBs of RWY 10 can not be seen in FS Navigator. There are similar problems at other airports also. What are you doing with this?Gabor

Gabor,I'm afraid I can't help much in this regard. So far I'm only flying with NVU in Russia, occasionally doing some RSBN corrections. So I didn't care about VORs yet and haven't noticed any not in range NDBs yet. What I needed from charts was there so far.I just use this to get consistent ILS :http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?action=download&id=1856Also I don't use FSNavigator.Maybe that problem really needs some infos from the Russian experts at avsim.ru ?Michael

Hi,I got an answer from Yuri (VatRus):"Hi. Yes, in Russia some airports have the same NDB frequencies for one RW. (one side RW active in time and other NDB's turn off) FSNavigator not show - old trouble."It's not a good news :( but interesting information on Russian airports and NDBs.Gabor
