Project Tupolev 154 Trim question...

Featured Replies

Hi, Is anybody familiar with the trim system of the Tu-154? I understand about the stabilizer function and the way FS attempts to model elevator trim with it, but am not sure the relationship to the "elevator trim" and what role the proper "trim" plays in this particular plane(model). I highly doubt you cannot trim for elevator forces when using the "combined" centering. BTW, the manual is a little confusing on this (terminology use I guess), it describes elevator angles in percentages sometimes or it describes "centering" intercheangeably with elevator or stablizer position or COG value. Kind of confusing on some parts, or maybe I just don't get it, but anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated on this.regards,

Ok. I found the problem. FS mapping numbers for the joystick I am using are different than what the joystick assigned numbers really are. I assigned the correct ones to the control device manager and now I have control of the aileron trim, like it should be. The function (button) was not mapped, that was all. I really like what the project Tupolev designers have done with the control management, you can really get soome realism/functionality out of it. I hope all developers learned from this approach. Ok, now back to the HBY...:)P.S.: I am still having trouble with the annoying electrical system sound. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated, regards,

Thanks for the remarks regarding the manual, gives me the chance to improve it in Version 1.1.>> I am still having trouble with the annoying electrical system sound. Any ideas? Very strange, I never heard about that problem before. After loading the plane must already come up in a stage triggering one of the aural warning sounds. Just to make sure, did you load the default Cessna before and shut everything down before you load the Tu-154 ? And did you follow the advice to initialize everything by quickly calling up all subpanels (page 5) ?It's not that eay to get FS in a correct state :)If it gets too annoying, you can turn the warning sounds off with the two switches on the left of the Engineer Panel (if I remember correctly, they are labelled sirena and dinamika). But then you loose all warning sounds of course. Michael

Michael, Your manual is great. I don't know how you found time to do all that work! :) I understand now some of the things that were not clear to me earlier-before I figured out the trim issue- specially regarding the precentages on the elevator angles. Well anyway, I will try following your suggeations on startup next time, I'll wite back on how it went. Thanks for your help, and thank you for the English manual, as I would have never been able to enjoy the plane without it.regards,
