RSBN on PT Tu-154b2

Featured Replies

'Lo guys,I've one other question about this wonderful Tu-154b2 of PT.Concerning the RSBN system :Could someone explain me in detail how to use correctly the RSBN system on the Tu-154b2 ?'cause I set the channel, and the needles of the RSBN instrument move, but I don't know why and how. The correct distance is shown, but I can't get the right alignement on the HSI.I precise that I don't want to use this system with an external point FOR THE MOMENT, but only like a VOR.thanks a lot,

Hi,I think my document on NAS and RSBN will be absolutely adequate for you even if I wrote it for AN24 pilots. Just leave out Antonov specific parts. In fact RSBN is pretty standard anyhow. You can doenload the current version of the navigation doc here:www.hrasko.com/gabor/srsz/AN24_RNAV_13102004.zipGabor

Hi,Thanks to your tutorial SRS I think I've understood how the RSBN system works. But I still do not manage to get it working on the PT Tu-154b2.Could someone explain me in detail how to use RSBN ON THE TU-154b2 please ?Thanks a lot,

Tu-154 RSBN is mainly used for NVU correction (it is described in Michael tutorial). You can also check Your current position on PPDA.Tu-154 has not AZIMUT TO/FROM, ORBITA, SRP modes. These are used on FS An-24/IL-18 only.

OK thanks for your answer ...But is it possible to use it as a VOR ?Thanks,

>But is it possible to use it as a VOR ?I am not a Tu-154 expert, so let us see Michael's documentation.Page 7 subpanel 224 is possible where you set channel, thought I think you know that better than me. See the screenshot on page 5. The equipment at the middle bottom (nuber 124) is an RMI (radio magnetic indicator). It has two needles. The first needle can point either the RSBN, VOR1 or NDB1 station. The second needle can point VOR2 or NDB2. For you the first yellow needle is the interesting. Using the selector switch at the bottom left of the gauge select RSBN (it will be displayed on the bottom) and the RMI will show the direction to the RSBN station.DME (128) can show the distance from the RSBN if you set switch (129) to middle. The best is that HSI (120) most probably can show RSBN track also like in AN24 but I do not know how. Somehow either on that gauge or somewhere else you can set RSBN as data source. I do not know how you set the course (radial) however. I just see the picture. I could see a label RSBN at the bottom of the gauge. If all these three things realy work, then you can use RSBN as a VOR.Gabor

Hi,And thanks for your answer.I tried what you said, but it seems not to work for me.In fact, ont the RMI, I can't get the RSBN indication on the bottom left, there is only VOR and APK. (does APK correspond to RSBN ?)What's more, I understood how to get the heading of the RSBN with the RSBN instrument : the indication of the large niddle plus ou minus 180

RSBN indication you get only on the RSBN instrument (141 in the manual). The RMI shows VOR and ADF, but is not intended for RSBN.Regarding the RSBN indication on the HSI : Very good question. I checked it and couldn't get the HSI in RSBN mode. Have to ask someone from the team.Michael
