Real Weather Problem in FS2002: Solved

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,After running FS2002 successfully with very few errors for over a year I now need some help. When trying to download real weather, whether from 'Get Weather' or directly from the internet, FS2002 gives me the message 'The System cannot find the file specified'. WHAT FILE DOES IT WANT.Rant mode onWhy can't programmers at least TELL you what file it is looking for.Rant mode offI've deleted the FS2002.cfg file and allowed FS2002 to recreate it. No difference. The program works OK, it just won't let me get any real weather.Anyone have any ideas, aside from deleting & reinstalling the program?ThanksMichael

Hi Michael, If you've been running fine for the last year or so and haven't made any recent changes (i.e. added firewalls etc.) then I would say the culprit is the internet. The last few days has been periodically slow and/or jumpy probably due to the newest invading worm. If the connection is momentarily lost on a download from Jeppeson (Real Weather) or another weather source, the 'cannot find the file specified' is the message you would get. I think, 'try again later' might work out for you.Hang in there! :-wave

Hi Brent,Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought of that option.I can get 'Get Weather' to retrieve a weather file from the internet though. I should have mentioned that, sorry.Michael

Hi Everyone,I solved the problem actually thanks to Microsoft's Knowledge base.Under article # 320461 which actually talks about having stale real world weather, it mentions deleting the browser cache.I did, & FS2002 now works. Thanks to MS Knowledgebase but criticism to the fact that so many of their programs are SO interdependant on each other.Michael
