January 31, 200323 yr Hi there,I am new to the forum thing but have been flight simming for a few years. I recently encountered a problem that is making me crazierthan I already am. Within two or three minutes of starting fs2002,the joystick stops working. I have tried two different joysticks(Microsoft Precision 2 and CH flight yoke) both usb both check okin the control panel. I only have one connected at a time. I haveuninstalled and reinstalled the joysticks, uninstalled and reinstalledfs2002, updated the drivers for the sound card (SB live). I alsochanged the video driver from 41.09 to 40.72 ( I went backward ).If anybody has an idea, I sure would appreciate hearing it.AMD 1.5 ghz512 meg ramGforce 4 ti4200Thanks
January 31, 200323 yr Do you have the VIA chipset on your motherboard?I understand there are issues with VIA chipsets and Windows XP, as far as USB devices.... I bought all Intel for this reason...Barry
January 31, 200323 yr Hi Barry,Thanks for answering. I am running Win 98se. And I don't knowif the MB has VIA chipsets. Not that computer savy.
January 31, 200323 yr As far as I know, you should be OK under Windows 98SE. Maybe someone else will comment on the problem..Barry
January 31, 200323 yr I remember having a similar problem with a saitek joystick and on speaking with saitek help they suggested downloading a file from www.stickworks.com called joystart which basically jumpstarted the joystick if and when it stopped. I believe that this was a problem with digital joysticks as opposed to anologue. May be of no help whatsoever but worth a try.heres the shortcut to the file http://home.att.net/~stickworks/swdownld.html#JSTRT100andy young
January 31, 200323 yr Thanks Andy, I'll give it a try. Seems strange though as I havebeen clattering along just fine for over a year and this thing hasjust all of a sudden started acting up. Thanks for the help.
