FS2004 won't start - please help!

Following is a condensed version of my previous post. I'm really hoping there are some ideas out there that can help me avoid a complete reinstall. Here's the symptoms:- FS2004 freezes at startup and does not completely load. This has taken on a few different forms. First, the startup froze while "Building Scenery Database" at 92%, 93%, and at 97% after adjusting features in Ultimate Terrain. After several attemps it got past this, then moved on to the next issue.Now I receive many error messages during the start process as follows (in order).Image "dlgstdtrans.bmp" cannot be loadedImage "fldstd.bmp<3>" cannot be loadedImage "fldstd.bmp<6>" cannot be loadedImage "dlgalert.bmp" cannot be loadedImage "iconinfo.bmp" cannot be loadedThere is a series of ~20 more, similar dialogue boxes like these that open when starting FS2004, which now, eventually completes the start process, but there is nothing in FS that really functions.
