Landing Light Beams

Featured Replies

Hello Fellow Flight Simmers,I am in need of some help. I guess I'm having a "Senior Moment".I seem to have lost the landing and taxi light beam in FS9. Not only the third party aircraft no longer cast a light beam on the ground, but the default aircraft do not also. I noticed it as I was testing a new aircraft. At night with the landing switch on, yuo can see the lights on the wings, but no beam on the ground. At first I thought it was the aircraft itself, but when I switch to the default Baron, the same results were noticed. Does anyone have any Idea what's going on? I examined the display settings in FS9 and found no discrepencies. Thanks,

Just a quick guess, you have lost the "spotlight.bmp" in the FS9 Texture file. A replacement can be found with newligth.zip(yes, it is spelled wrong, but works) here in the AVSIM library. Another version, using newer xenon type light effects, xenon2.zip at Flightsim.com.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain

That's it! I remember now. I was testing a different lighting system for EZ Scenery and swapped out the original spotlight.bmp for a new one. Returning to the old file corrected everything. Thanks M.T. Maybe I'd better start writing these things down. Take care and be well.
