March 4, 200323 yr The History Channel, this evening, had a very good documentary on the P38, Glacier Girl, recovered from under 250 feet of ice in 1992. They also covered the restoration and first flight. It was an excellent show.Bill
March 4, 200323 yr Bill,For a really excellent example of "Glacier Girl", the P-38 you mentioned, check out this freeware example designed by David Copely from the AVSIM Library: http://library.avsim.com/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=Root Bear!
March 4, 200323 yr Bear;I downloaded it sometime ago. It's a nice airplane. The first flight of the real one was perfect. You should have seen the tears in the eyes of the guys who recovered it and the old WWII era vets present. They did a magnificent job rebuilding the airplane.Bill
March 4, 200323 yr I certainly want to thank Mr Copely for a really superb aircraft. I hope that anyone with an interest in WW2 aircraft would download and enjoy flying these wonderful fighters. It goes very well with the MAAM R4D and B-25, not to mention the Globe Swift.
