July 4, 200718 yr The 2007 London-Melbourne Challenge begins this weekend. This event emphasizes flying Golden Age aircraft using NDB and Dead Reckoning navigation. The route, mimicking that of the 1934 MacRobertson Race, flies over the towering Alps, the desolate Syrian desert, the tiger-infested jungles of India, the mile-high monsoons of the Bay of Bengal, the volcanoes of the Dutch East Indies, the mysterious Timor Sea, and the outback of the Australian continent. Not your local cross-country. This race is not for everyone. But if you want to participate, or take a look, it is being hosted at the Sim-Outhouse forums: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/forumdisplay.php?f=6 All are welcome. We have pilots from AVSIM, FlightSim, and Sim-Outhouse. This is meant as a light-hearted fun event.Best,Mike (for the whole L-M group) --Mike MacKuen
