do you do the same when you download aircraft?

Yes. Download, read the readme file, follow the instructions. R-

generally, you replace the 'panel folder' in your aircraft folder with the downloaded one after extracting the zip file (assuming it's a zip file) or copy the files specified into the panel folder. You may also have to copy gauge files into the fs9 guages folder.But reading the readme is essential as sometimes things aren't this way.
