April 5, 200323 yr I am about to install some add-on scenery, and would like to know what the cache settig does? I get 2 options, use directly and cache.Which should i pick? I have a full install of FS2002 on my pc.Thank you.regards,SS.
April 5, 200323 yr Don't enable it. The Cache is for scenery loaded from CD. Enabling it causes FS2k2 to read the scenery, then store it in the FS2002 cache folder on the hard drive, where it is read from in subsequent reads. In the case where the scenery is already on the hard drive, this causes FS to work double-time when reading the scenery. There are some who believe that this setting manipulates the Windows vcache in some way, but I'm citing MS's explanation of the cache....
