April 5, 200323 yr Hello to all:Question?.... What are the rules in relation to TAXI SPEED in a real airport.Thank you.
April 6, 200323 yr Good question. About the same as those in a congested parking lot - Walmart etc. Go 'slowly and carefully' as appropriate for the space and traffic congestion you are dealing with. Near the ramp, with lots of close, parked airplanes and people walking around, no faster than a walking pace. On a taxiway, with other planes approaching, about 20 m/hour would be fast, slowing down when passing opposing traffic. On an extended straight taxiway, with 3000 feet to go, and no traffic you can speed it up a bit - but well short of any speed that would raise the nose with back pressure.Basically, common courtesy, and pilots discretion.
April 6, 200323 yr can't remember the exact wording, but the term "reasonable and prudent" comes to mind.save the whales. collect the whole set!........... jed
