April 11, 200323 yr A couple of months ago I upgraded my computer and went from WINME to WIN XP PRO. However a couple of things that worked OK in WINME now cause FS2K2 to crash.1 When I try to run FS2K2 in full screen mode I get an FSSound.dll error message and FS2k2 closes. As far as I am aware I have the latest version of this file and have the correct entry in the cfg file under Old Modules.2 Some aircraft will not load as I get a message saying that there is a problem with the .mdl file when I try to select the aircraft in FS2k2. One example is the IFDG 757 (non GMAX version)Anyone any ideas?Thank
April 11, 200323 yr 1. Check the properties on fssound.dll. I believe the newest version is Fileversion=1.5.0.1, Productversion=1.5.1, Productname="FSSound module for FS98, CFS1, FS2000, CFS2 and FS2002". This specific version was included in anncgau.zip (Crew and Cabin Announcement Gauge) by Jim Johnson available here in the lib. Also running on WinXP Pro and using this version, I never even had to add the line in oldmodules in fs2002.cfg. Apparently it's perfectly compatible with FS2002.2. There's a tool called MDLrepair.exe that fixes old FS2k aircraft models for use in FS2002 running on Win2K/WinXP. Look for mdlrepair.zip and mdlrepair201.zip by Dave Parsons and see if that helps.Peter
