FS2002-Turning Winds

Recommended Posts

Guest crj50

I downloaded Real Weather, without winds aloft. In certain regions, the winds are turning continously, going from 175 to 250 degrees. very annoying and unrealistic.Any solution??? Thanks.

When you say turning, are they changing direction as you climb in altitude?

I've noticed that too and assume it is Microsoft's way of simulating a "variable" wind. It does make for interesting landing challenges but it would be helpful if ATIS would warn you of the turbulance. In the case that you cite, ATIS probably said "Winds, 210 at 9 (or whatever)" and you weren't prepared for the buffeting. In answer to David's question, No, its not while climbing/descending, It can happen right on the ground. If the winds are shifting that much close to the ground, then it's definitely a problem. Have you ever tried a program like ActiveSky? Since using it, i've not come across any bizzare anomolies like that.

I have the same sometimes. It makes it very hard to land since your airspeed goes 30 knots up and down all the time. I hope they will fix this for ACOF, otherwise I;ll buy active sky

I have experienced this sometimes as well. This is either a corrupted weather download or an FS2002 bug or both. There was one time that my barometric pressure was that of something close to venus which made my altimeter setting wacky (minus thousands of feet).
