AI Flightplanning-racetrack pattern

Recommended Posts

-------The situation----A recent topic over on the MAIW boards relates to the (im)possibility or flightplanning a racetrack pattern for an AI tanker aircraft. One of the contribtors there mentioned an execution problem in FS9 of stringing TNGs together without actually landing/departing. This, along with a 1700' difference between departure and arrival airport' altitude limitation, supposedly precludes flightplanning a racetrack pattern.OTOH, as another poster brought up, HeliTraffic2009, claims to be able to have cirucular flight patters even without departures/landings - but this is for helos.------end of situation description---So, my questions are this:1a. IS it possible to flightplan a racetrack/refueling pattern for fixed-wing aircraft in FSX? 1b.What is/are the differences in FSX/FS9 flightplanning in order to accomplish this?2. Is what is being claimed/done in HeliTraffi2009 only possible with helos? If so, why?
