Ram Disk and UTx Fsx Textures

Howdee folks,I've been a simmer since wireframe on fs1. I've got some new iron, (Phenom II, AMD 4850 ), but I was still seeing stutters. I have gleaned here and elsewhere that FSX was Processor bound, but I still think that getting frequently accessed files from a RAM Disk (using free 15 day trial from RamDisk Plus / RamDiskProduct version: 9.0.4.0) from SuperSpeed LLC.) has the potential for dramatic performance improvement in Fsx performance.I stupidly purchased more ram than I needed without checking to see If I could return it from NewEgg. So, I decided to fully populate my mobo with it. That gave me 8GB. I understand that the rtm of Vista Sp2 gives us 4GB, but for now all my Sp1 Vista will give me is about 3.5GB. That means that Superspeed's Ramdisk Plus can use 4.5GB for Ramdisk. I put all my UTx Usa files into it including my own self generated SRTM Kentucky 10M mesh.Using Procmon's disk access with over a million events, I find a huge number of Ramdisk hits(r:) with my UTx files, and FsX has appreciably enhanced in percieved smoothness (I've got 25 fPS locked down).I'd like to suggest that others try this if they've got spare ram and let us know about your performance delta's.Thanks,Reed
