Zoom settings, Tile Proxy & 3D

Featured Replies

Hi all simmers, after many years on Flight sim, I finally worked out that zooming right-out (- key all the way), in 2D cockpit, makes the scale more realistic - autogen becomes smaller, and the perspective seems better. Doesn't work in Virtual Cockpit, but I prefer the 2D panel (more lifelike in my opinion), and I like to use the side views for quick glances out the side, rather than trying to move a head around. Another reason I like 2D is the large/clear instrumentation and the rain drops on the windshield - love it. Combined with the sound of the rain on the canopy and the grey clouds, its pretty cool. The reason I mention the zoom settings here is I have just started using TileProxy, and think the zoomed out setting looks better for scenery and might help some users. Works for me.I have been waiting for TileProxy a long time (thought it would take another 10 years to happen). Now we have realistiic sky and "real ground". Went for a spin around my hometown airport Bankstown (on Vatsim at the same time), and was blown away by the scenery in the training area. With the clouds passing by it felt like the real thing. Add a bit of turbulence, some LiveATC.com in the background and you basically have it. Have to say though that in the training area in real life - there is no ATC to listen to anyway, only the ATIS on the way back.Havent tried it in 3D yet, but will give it a go soon. My PC actually runs faster with Tileproxy, because the 100% Autogen I normally use, is very memory intensive. The satellite scenery is less so it seems.I normally use the Red/Blue glasses for 3D, and the effect during the day is amazing. Gave up the electric shutter glasses years ago when I realised the red/blue ones are just as good, even better. These red/blue glasses are so easier to use. You can buy them online from this company:http://www.eyecessories.com/_catalog_48571/3D_ProductsThe clouds look pretty real. At night seems to make little difference.Wrote this in case it gives someone some ideas. I always use minimum zoom now. I wish I had worked it out years ago. After a while on zoomed out settings, you won't want to go back to default settings.HKThanks AVSIM, EYE ACCESSORIES and thanks TILEPROXY. What more could we want? An actual plane? What about the expense. No thanks I would rather fly on my PC. It's safer and almost free!
