PMDG S-Turns and Oscillations

Featured Replies

Just a thought (my observations),This is not an attempt to find fault, lay blame, or slag a developer, their products are great. It just seems that the concerns / questions / fixes that are being asked for here, are misguided, and the fix you seek, is being sought after in the wrong place, and the time being spent here on trying to offer solutions to these problems could be better spent on other concerns related to Active Skys products.I spent a few hours today (I have lots of free time, lucky me) reading through this forum and the PMDG section here at AVSIM, and I don't quite understand something. There seems to be some users experiencing problems with various PMDG products with S-turns or oscillations at flight level, no other aircraft mentioned, just PMDG. After going through the many posts, it seems that the consensus is that these aircraft have a problem, or are very sensitive to wind / turbulence / temperature changes. It doesn't seem to matter if ASA, ASX, Microsofts own real weather is used, as well as using the smoothing options available in FSUIPC, the problems still exist. The only time users that have the problem, report no problem, is when they turn all weather off, it seems. The guys here have offered all kinds of help, and some solutions in the Revisions document, yet I still see posts here regarding the issue. It would seem logical to me after reading through all the posts that I did, that the problem is not Active Skys, and more a problem with the PMDG products, and the questions being asked here, should be directed to the PMDG forum, just a thought. Here are some quotes:"I continued to have the S turn problem both with ASA and without it in my PMDG 747x. I had it with FSUIPC even with wind smoothing on and also with FSX real weather""I completely disabled ASA reloaded a new flight. Turned on FSUIPC weather wind smoothing pressure smoothing etc...I started up a flight and after awhile same old s turns started occuring without ASA enabled. After further research i discovered that the PMDG planes in particular are extremely sensitive to turbulance. I read that if I was to turn off all turbulance settings in FSUIPC this behavior would stop. I turned off all turbulance settings in FSUIPC and the plane immediately stopped s turning and straightened out and did not s turn again for the duration of the 9+ hour flight."I know we all get frustrated and angry and want to lay blame when we spend a lot of money on addons, and things don't seem to work as expected (I'm one of those people, unfortunately), but the answers to these particular problems I don't think are here. A fix may very well come from here, but the underlying problem isn't here.I only posted this here, because it concerns the users here, and has nothing to do with HiFi or their staff, it's my own observation.Glen

Hi Glen,I will thank you and others who have posted their recent findings about this issue. I am glad that some have come to realize where the source of this problem really lies. I will say that we knew of the problem even before ASA was released and notified the "proper" company. We even offered them a fix for the problem, but no such luck. To this day they will deny that the problem is with their products, but in the way AS is supplying the weather data. So it is up to you, the individual users of said products, to let the powers that be of your observations and findings. Thanks,
