May 27, 200323 yr Very nicely done. The flight dynamics seems realistic, albeit much more stable than the real thing. If I remember correctly, the Voyager would enter a divergent phugoid if you let the controls go. I figure that might be difficult to model in FS2002 anyway. The model also correctly mimics the facecious character of Dick Rutan who turns his head to the right when the airplane turns to the left. But I really liked the takeoff in the early morning at Mojave.--Machdiamonds
May 27, 200323 yr I thought this one was never gonna hit the virtual skies. I remember many months ago hearing about this beauty. Really fantastic job. Now all I need is a week off the fly round the globe :-)
May 28, 200323 yr I saw that aircraft fly, and watching the wings flex I was sure they'd snap off at any minute.Seeing the winglets reminded me. During the RTW flight, I believe one or both of the winglets was lost or damaged on takeoff. Rutan performed some odd gyrations in order to remove winglets, during flight. The aircraft thus flew the RTW trip with no winglets...-JohnHere's a link which, among other things, describes what happened to the winglets better than I....http://www.nasm.edu/nasm/aero/aircraft/rutanvoy.htm
