Simplest way to compile BGL

Featured Replies

Ok, I have some ship scenery, and I would like to have the ships in other locations. I used bglcomp (http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=75329), to break down the BGL into the XML and MDL. I have made the necessary modifications to the XML file, so the ship will show at the new location, but I have no idea how to recompile the two files into a BGL. What would be the easiest way to recompile these two files? Forgive my newbness, working with SDK's not really my thing.

FS2004, correct? You should download and install the FS2004 BGLCompiler that is a part of the SDKs. Where you install the BGLCompiler, then copy the XML and MDL files to that location. Drag and drop the XML file on top of the BGLComp.exe file and if all things are correct, it will generate a new BGL file with the same name prefix as the XML file. Example: Ships1.XML will create Ships1.BGL, Ships2.xml will create Ships2.XML, and so on.BTW, I would recommend NewBGLAnalyze by Winfried Orthmann for decompiling files.
