Abacus Whirlybirds - not too impressed....

Featured Replies

Took a look at this package, and the aircraft simply don't look up to the quality of other FS releases. This has seemed true with their last several releases, and I have to wonder what market they are aiming their products at?I'm concerned that Abacus may be growing more focussed on the "quick buck", vs. support for their design tools. FSDS 2 has been in need of an update for a while now. Those of us who use it are finding major discrepancies between it and compatibility with the FS2002 SDK. I wish Abacus would throw all of their resources behind Lou in getting a fix. Then, let them start releasing payware products with the quality we've grown to expect in FS2002...-John

Abacus's reputation has been slipping down the slope for some time now I'm afraid. It's to their credit that you can download a lot of their stuff on trial because otherwise I'm sure their mailbox would be full of complaints by now.I've seen endless horror stories regarding so called FS2002 models that are nothing more than FS2000 versions with a sim icon or two added to the panels. It's my opinion that the bulk of their current income must be confined to FlightDeck III (containing Arrestor cables) and FSDS2, which is an outstanding program. I suspect that anyone downloading anything else from their site has been sadly disappointed. They really do need to start doing some serious legwork upgrading their aircraft which, almost without exception, are outshone by freeware equivalents widely available here and elsewhere.
