August 8, 200916 yr HI, I am having trouble calibrating an "old" MS Sidewinder basic joystick. It is a USB Joystick, so it is not that ancient a technology. Anyway, found out MS stopped making them and there appears to be no support fo them anymore, so was wondering if anybody knew how I could update it for VISTA and be able to make it work right? Any help would be appreciated.Regards,Macs :)
August 8, 200916 yr I too use the sidewinder with Vista Premium Home and have no problems with it. Mine is at least 8 yrs old but still works great. You don't say what problems you are having, what aircraft you are having them with (or across the board) and whether you are using FS9 (like I am) or FSX. The main issue I am having is that the throttle slider is registering backwards, or reversing when calibrating it and when using it of course. This affects of course throttle control for some aircraft, namely helicopters as are the only ones I use the joystick with. The throttle also acts in an erratic fashion for helis. Thanks for your input, regards,Macs :)
August 9, 200916 yr If I understand correctly, you are saying that the throttle slider when pushed forward closes the throttles. If that is the case, it sounds like your joystick is ready for a dirt-nap. Especially if it's erratic. Although I don't fly helios, I don't think they would cause any difference. I hope my stick doesn't die for a while, I like it.JoeM Current Mission: Various IVAO Division VFR Tours Most Recently Completed Mission: World Tour 2011

(har, har har, sorry, could not resist...)regards,Macs :)
