Embraer is Brasillian, not European... and Boeing receives significant government subsidies by being a near monopolistic defence/space contractor with greatly inflated budgets that makes their way to the commercial end of the industry. Seperate Boeing's civillian work and their military work and the civillian side would scream for low interest loans too. That said, no one gets subsidies like Embraer... and I bet the WTO will have a good look at this deal if anyone complains (read: Bombardier/Boeing/Airbus)As far as Jet Blue buying Airbuses for low-cost operations, the A320-211 has a larger capacity than all but the biggest 737's, they have single cockpit training simplicity and lower seat/mile operating costs than their Boeing counterparts. Why support a company that would cause you to lose business, the only reason Southwest is still running 737's is because they had them before there was an Airbus A320...
