June 11, 200322 yr Been running FS202k for about a year.......now a problem...when I fire it up..it will not get past the splash screen (the 747 shot).reinstalled 6 times, thorough Scandisk, defrag, d/loaded latest graphic drivers.....still no change, and nothing else seems wrong on the comp.....FS2k runs fine as always, now using that, but i miss the FS202K water and trees.....anybody had this prob??.......Bazza
June 11, 200322 yr Something has changed, obviously, for FS to get to this point. When you uninstall, are you deleting everything (or at least moving things to another temp folder so you can install FS in a new one)? Uninstall doesn't remove any custom add-ons and modules you've added. When you reinstall, do you reinstall the base package and test, or do you reinstall, throw in your aircraft and add-ons, and test? (The former should be done)Can you recall the date FS last worked? Do a find on your system for all files changed or modified since. That may uncover a few surprises.Check task manager for any new processes or tasks....Before delving into the H/W issues, take a look at these suggestions, starting with the first two.... Hope that helps...-John
June 11, 200322 yr No John...not been moving add on planes....but did delete all add on scenerys..I think! So you reckon ive gotta shift the planes out....i'll try that..thanks
June 12, 200322 yr There's a trick to this "frozen screen" issue. I get them too. The fix for me after suggestions from several kind folks here was to search my FS2002 directory for all of the scenery.dat files (should be a bunch) and delete all of them. This will force your FS to reindex and build new scenery.dat files. Give it a try... at this point what do you have to lose?Good luck!JohnnyKTUS
