I fly with a small group only and since I am a 'RW" pilot, once in a while they want to replicate ATC so I end up running the tower, center, etc. There are a few things that drive me crazy with the 'ATC' function in FSX and your mod's just fixed most of them.Thanks VERY much!

I appreciate your efforts but think there is a better solution than to require every aircraft to be modified. FS-MP had a utility called SquawkSquawk.exe that run in the background with FSX and did not require any panel .cfg mods to function. It even used the same Ident methodology in that the code was temporarily set to 0000. However the dev split with FS-MP and then used a pop up window to air his grievances every time the app was started so I uninstalled it. But that shows transponder codes can be sent correctly without panel mods.

No, I don't believe it would be used that much and the extra code that would be required may impact the performance of the radar. Most planes in fsx do not propogate squawk code changes anyway. Users would have to be running something like my squawk ident fix for this to work. Also turning the radar red is a bit of a hack. In effect I'm simulating selecting the plane. In short good idea but overall I do not think its worth doing.Of course there is nothing to stop you having a go!

Horses for courses. Yes that way works with every plane and you don't need to change the panel config however you might need to install .net framework and you need to start it everytime. Once installed mine is always there and gives you an actual button on the coms stack to squawk ident. I wrote the app for me as I wanted it, it's there for others if you want it to. I won't be writing an app to do as you suggest although I had already planned to add it as part of a bigger collection of tools to FSopen members. A few facts :-(1) FS-MP's SquawkSquawk loads AUTOMATICALLY when FSX starts, and unloads when FSX closes. So,NO, you do NOT have to load it manually each time... its fully automatic, and as already stated, works with EVERY FSX aircarft, without the need for any Panel modifications.(2) If you are running FSX, with almost any other addons, you need .net intalled on your computer, and up to date. So many applications now rely on .net to be present, its a no brainer -- especially as Windows Updates takes care of keeping it up to date.(3) The PRIMARY function of SquawkSquawk is to fix a bug in FSX Multiplayer, where some planes Transponders do NOT send updated Squawk Codes to the FSX MP server / ATC. The Ident feature was an added bonus. :(
