Simtouch, anyone have it yet?

Featured Replies

I have been watching this item with great interest but am awaiting any sort of feedback from my simming bretheren. I even have hope they may post a hyperlink on their website of someone's first hand review. It's a bit pricey and only a 5 inch display, but does also offer GPS capability for your POV, so not a bad product. My only fear is they are a new company and therefore have no background, good or bad as far as reliability and quality of build. It is similar in design to Touchbuddy and strictly for FSX. Anyway, hoping to get feedback to assist with my final determination. Thanks in advance and here's a cpy of their hyperlink: http://www.simtouch.eu/Matt

It looks quite nice, and I am generally interested in touchscreens for simming, but as this product is entirely FS controls based, I can't see the point in using this over traditional hardware controls ?Why would I use a touch screen to operate my AP, when this is less realistic than using a hardware controllers, such as my Go-Flight modules.APs aren't controlled by touch screens in any aircraft that I'm aware of. Hardware controllers give excellent realism, and changing this to a screen would seem like a retrograde step. The other impact I'd assume is that as this is in effect a monitor, it will take up a GPU output slot, and could even have an effect on FPS.Davido.

I too have been waiting to see some "usage" reports on this as well. In searching other forums, nobody has used it either. In response to the "why would you use this...", the answer is simple: ease of use and cost. If I can use my current GPS touch screen and the software is <$100 USD, why not? Rather than relying on keyboards, switches or a mouse to find that button, this seems to take care of all of that with one hand. Sure, it's not AS realistic, but until the economy gets better and I can afford to buy everything I need... BTW, it is supposed to be available in 4 days. So, who is going to be first? Bill
