NEW YORK, NY - Vanity Airways begins service today with a new type of regional aircraft from its New York hub at JFK International Airport and Fort Lauderdale Focus City. The efficient, quiet and comfortable 50 and 74-seat Bombardier Q300 and Q400 will allow Vanity to start regional airline service from its JFK hub and FLL focus city to markets that could not prove efficient with its larger aircraft. The Q300/400 series are ideal aircraft to operate at JFK and FLL as they will allow more extensive use of alternate approach and departure routes and will enable flight operations at lower altitudes.The airline's selection of the Q300/Q400 aircraft are an important move for us because it addresses our need for efficiency while it is well-suited to the unique operating environment at our planned destinations.The aircraft will operate on short and medium-distance routes from both JFK and FLL. The first cities to be served by Vanity from New York using the Q400 are Boston, Washington and Toronto, while the Q300 enters service from FLL to destinations such as the Bahamas and Key West, FL.
